Services for Adults and Families
FAMILYConnections is dedicated to the strength of the family, so a family focus naturally runs through all of our programs. We strive to make our services as respectful and user-friendly as possible - especially in times of crisis - highlighting each individual's strengths and each family's strengths and harnessing those strengths for positive change.
Outpatient Mental Health Counseling provides a range of therapeutic approaches for individuals, couples, and families, from short-term, solution-focused counseling to Wellness & Recovery and psychiatric services for people diagnosed with serious and persistent mental illness.
Outpatient Substance Abuse Program provides individual and group treatment for adults (many recently returned from prison or on probation) and families at all stages of recovery. Treatment is strengths-based and motivational, covering all stages from problem recognition through aftercare.
Reunity Substance Abuse Services delivers Intensive Outpatient (IOP) substance abuse services for DYFS-involved women and their children, including gender-specific treatment groups, yoga, expressive arts activities, and assistance with transportation and childcare.
Spanish Language Services (SLS), provides culturally-specific counseling and educational services to the many different Hispanic populations in our community.
ParentChoices is a parenting skills training program providing parents with knowledge and techniques to better manage their own stress and understand and nurture their children's behavior and development.
Strong Mothers Project offers psycho-education, life skills training and individual mental health counseling to battered mothers living in shelters in Newark and Irvington. (Thanks to a generous donor, we have recently been able to add treatment for the children of these mothers, to help them address and overcome the trauma they experience as witnesses to family violence.)
